Buddha was born in Nepal.
Is that the truth??
Is that something absolute?
Is that what buddha wanted to teach us??
To take pride in his birth or to understand his teachings??
I admit that buddha being born in Nepal would help Nepal get recognition and it would promote the tourism industry but taking too much pride in something is never a good thing.
If i say buddha was born in Nepal, Mt Everest lies in Nepal , Gorkhas are the bravest soldiers, we are the best, Our country is the best, Our religion is the best, My ehinic group is the best, My caste group is the best, i am making myself feel good..
so since my caste is the best that must mean others caste are the worst, if i say gurkhas are the bravest, others military must be cowardly, and if i say my religion is the best then i will soon say others religion are the worst..
hell we are already saying all of these things... It is alright because most of us dont take it seriously. But some do take it seriously.. Seriously enough to harm others in order to protect theirs.. and before you know it, we have religious war.. so is this what buddha would want?? If you dont understand any of this, thats ok too.. I am just writing to organize my thoughts..
Nationalism does nothing but teach you to hate people you never met, and to take pride in accomplishments you had no part in.
