I encountered this bug or a problem twice in two days in two different laptops and in two browsers (chrome and torch). I searched the interwebs for the solution and the second solution i found worked. i ended up in google forum whose solution was to update chrome to latest edition.
ONE SOLUTION I TRIED AND WORKED is i installed an ad-ons for Google Chrome. You can install it from here.
So this is what youtube flash player looks like. looks little weird but you'll get used to it and go back to watching meaningless videos.
