What would have happened if Buddha was born somewhere else?

We are all Nepalese. And at some point during our childhood we were taught to be proud of being Nepalese, but is that something that we should be proud of?? Aren't we supposed to be proud of our own accomplishments and doings and not something that our ancestors did. I am not saying that what they did was wrong or bad in anyway but it is something that they did and we need to remember what they did with respect but not have pride in it.

And another thing we Nepalese have in common is we hate Indians. Maybe it is because of their constant attempt to mock us. They try to dominate us in every possible way. They repeatedly make fun of Nepalese in their shows and movies. With offensive statements and twisted facts. But why does it bother us so much. Why do we need to watch the Hindi movies and get offended by those twisted facts? There are evidences that prove their statements wrong and we know in our heart that it is wrong.

They may be mocking us with their twisted facts but if people already know the truth then jokes on them. We don’t need to stoop to their level and react. Its like a saying in nepali “kukur le tokyo bhandai ma hami ni kukur lai tokna jane?”.

There are Nepalese groups in Facebook where you will get blocked if you post anything about India. Is that good? I think that is us stooping to their level.

People know very little about Nepal and for such a country, things like Buddha being born here and the tallest peak being here helps us to be known globally. But these aren't the things you need to be proud of. It is not something that you achieved. Buddha could have been born in any place and Mount Everest could have been anywhere. It’s not like Nepal was chosen to have Mount Everest and Buddha probably didn’t choose to be born here cause Nepal is worthy in some way. Those are natural occurrences. We don’t see people being proud of having greatest tsunamis or earthquakes in their countries. But pride is in our blood and doesn’t go away that easily. But I think it is time people realized that having too much pride is not a good thing.

There are other important things we need to worry about like the politicians dividing the country into different provinces according to ethno-cultural-religious-linguistic group. Is that right in any way?? How could anyone with any knowledge come to such conclusion? Or are the politicians so childish that they are willing to divide the country just to prove others that their party is more powerful?
